The dome of Kazan Cathedral is over 70m tall and 17m in diameter. Looking up from inside the church it is quite a sight with figures painted around it and frescoes in each corner. As with all churches during the soviet era much was destroyed and religious treasures removed. The interior and exterior of the Kazan Cathedral were restored from 1950-1968
